Organic Indigo Powder

  • Organic Indigo Powder | Natural, Ammonia Free Hair Colour

Indigo is a natural, plant-based colourant made from the leaves of Indigofera tinctoria. Traditionally used for centuries, its natural blue pigment can be combined with henna to create rich, natural-looking hair shades as an ammonia free alternative to conventional hair colour.

Pure indigo powder should not be applied directly to grey or very light hair unless you are specifically looking for blue or blue-green tones. When combined with pure henna powder, indigo helps create a range of natural-looking shades from brown through to black.

    How Indigo Works with Henna

Unlike henna, indigo releases its colour quickly and is less stable once mixed. For best results, indigo paste should be prepared and applied soon after mixing.

The final colour depends on factors such as your starting hair colour, hair porosity and the ratio of henna to indigo used. Because natural plant pigments work differently on every person's hair, a strand test is recommended before full application.

    100% Pure Organic Indigo Powder

Indigo is sometimes marketed as “black henna”, but pure indigo is a natural green plant powder before mixing. Products sold as black henna may contain additional ingredients or synthetic dyes.

Our Certified Organic Indigo Powder meets recognised Australian organic standards and are independently verified by ACO, giving you confidence that the organic claim is genuine.

It is made from 100% pure Indigofera tinctoria leaf powder with no additives, PPD, synthetic dyes, ammonia, peroxide or metallic salts.

For natural brown to deeper hair shades, combine indigo with our pure Organic Henna powder to create your own plant-based hair colour blend.
