Natural Cosmetic Ingredients > Carrier Oils
Our exotic natural Carrier oils can be used as an
ingredient in the preparation of natural cosmetics ingredients or directly on the skin.
A carrier oil is the oil derived usually from the seeds, kernels or nuts of the plant.
Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils or absolutes prior to application, as direct
and undiluted application of essential oils on skin can cause severe irritation. Each of
our carrier oil offers different therapeutic benefits.
Our exotic natural oil range includes the African Baobab oil and the Melon seed oil.
These carrier oils are very popular as cosmetic ingredients in creams and is sourced for
its unique properties. Our Baobab oil is a Wildcraft ingredient ie. it is harvested from
plants that grow in the wild and are not cultivated.
Organic certification is not economically viable in Africa as it is too expensive for the
average farmer. In such situations, Nature Shop works with a local NGO to try and
source Wildcraft ingredients, such as Baobab, as they are the next best option to
organics. On request, we can provide documents from the NGO on the methods used
locally to obtain these ingredients.
Not to be missed are our natural Shea and Kukui Nut oil, each oil has specific healing
properties and particularly popular as massage oils.
Carrier oils have a faint nutty aroma. Use it directly as a massage oil, or mix with
essential oil/s of your choice and make your very own massage oil.
