Fatty acids are the building blocks of fats. Fats are made up of 3 fatty acids chemically attached to an alcohol called glycerol. Omega-3 are very long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Fish oil is recommended for a healthy diet because it contains the omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), that reduce inflammation throughout the body.
