Pure Henna Pure Henna powder has a dye that only colours grey hair copper red. . It is obtained from the leaf of the plant Lawsonia Inermis. This is the only plant that is "real henna". There could be slight variations in the tone of the red colour of henna depending on the climatic conditions or soil, and Henna dye could change slightly from batch to batch, as they are natural products.
Organic Henna is grown without any artificial fertilisers or pesiticides. Our product is Certified Organic and your only guarantee that the product is not only natural but truly organic and in its purest form.
Henna contains a red-orange pigment called lawsone. For the dye to be released it needs to be mixed in an acidic medium and left to rest for at least for 6 hours. Henna dye works by binding with the keratin in the hair. As the henna dye bonds with hair, it does not easily fade or change colour. With every application the henna dye coats the earlier colour, thereby changing the depth of the colour, giving your hair a deeper richer tone. Henna is a long lasting hair dye. If you henna your hair only once, it may lighten only a few shades from its peak color. To strip the reddish-orange color of henna off your hair, you will have to get it done chemically or just let your hair grow out.
If you have natural dark coloured hair, Henna
dye will combine with your natural colour to provide red highlights. Pure henna powder will not give other shades. There is no
such thing as natural brown henna or blonde henna.Blond, Brown, Mahogany or Auburn henna are pre-mixes and is not 100% henna. The additives could be either other plant ingredients, synthetic dyes or metallic salts. To guarantee that you are using only 100% pure henna, look for Certified Organic Henna.
Henna can be combined with few other plant powders to get different colours. Unlike artificial dyes, a standardised colour
cannot be obtained using only henna powder, as the final colour depends on your natural hair colour.
Ever wondered how to get dark brown or jet black hair using natural hair dyes? Its simple - Combine Henna with a natural hair dye called Indigo powder, to get colours from brunette to black. Indigo powder is a pure plant powder that is obtained from the crushed dried leaves of the plant Indigofera Tinctoria.
Pure Indigo
Indigo is a plant that has a natural blue dye in it, so do not use indigo dye directly on grey hair, unless you want bluish-green colour. However, when Indigo is mixed with Henna, it is possible to get shades of brown or even jet black.
Sometimes Indigo is sold as black henna. If the product is a bright green powder then it is most probably natural Indigo powder. If the colour varies from brown to black, then it is definitely not pure Indigo powder and has additives. To guarantee that you are using only 100% pure Indigo, look for Certified Organic Indigo. Organic Indigo is grown without any artificial fertilisers or pesiticides and an organic certification guarantees that there are no chemical or synthetic additives.
When buying a natural hair dye or colour, look beyond the claims of "no ammonia", "no peroxide", "herbal henna" etc – look at the ingredient list. If it is a pure, natural plant powder, the product should list botanical names such as Lawsonia Innermis or Indigofera Tinctoria, If there are any other additives, research before you buy.
